Classics Spotlight: Vanity Fair Illumination

A big part of my motivation in starting this blog was to share some of my favorite panties, the panties that I've worn and loved for years. These are panties that I consider firmly in the "classics" category.

Like a lot of my readers, I got started wearing panties at a young age, but I didn't have the independence and privacy to really explore the full range of women's underwear until I was a little older. The internet opened up some incredible possibilities for a guy like me who was curious about the world of possibilities that women's underwear had to offer.

I recall one of my first-ever purchases on Amazon, a 3 pack of Carole Antron nylon lace-trim briefs. Because I was just guessing at sizes those days, they ended up being three sizes too big! I've been known to wear some big panties in my day, but these were ridiculous. I went back to the drawing board-- and got serious about my panties.

Any man who is serious about wearing panties will sooner or later come across Vanity Fair, the unquestioned juggernaut of men's lingerie. These panties have a cult following that dates back decades.

In the far-flung olden days of the 1990s internet, one of my most impactful discoveries as a young man was "Lingerie Lovers," a website for men who wear panties. The site's advice columnists, responding to hundreds of emails from guys who were learning they were not alone, went by the pseudonyms "Van and Olga," after Vanity Fair and Olga panties. Because of that, I had heard of Vanity Fair long before I ever found or wore a pair. Some panties are just legendary like that.

The timelessly elegant and classic Vanity Fair Illumination hi-cut briefs

It's time for another classics spotlight, and nothing could be more classic than the Illumination line of underwear from Vanity Fair. The illumination line comes in any cut you want: from string bikinis to hi-cuts to hipsters and briefs, I truly believe any guy could find a size and cut that would be a perfect fit.

That's what I keep coming back to with these panties: the fit. The unique fabric is soft and supple, providing a perfectly balanced support to the male anatomy, while still being silky. I find the hi-cut in size 7 is so perfectly fit to me that I honestly don't think anything fits better.

Take it from Hope Alexander:

When you talk to men who love wearing lingerie, one brand comes up time and time again: Vanity Fair. Vanity Fair is not one of the showiest brands, nor is it the most feminine from an aesthetic standpoint. It is, however, undeniably one of the most comfortable and soft brands with designs that lend themselves well to being worn by men.

The internet has always sung the praises of these panties and any man could appreciate a few pairs of them in his underwear drawer.

Illumination hi-cut briefs

Any lingerie manufacturer would be proud to have a line of panties as critically praised as these. These panties are three-time Undie Award winners, beloved as they are by men and women alike.

When you wear these panties you know you're not skimping on quality or luxury. Just a glance at the sheer number of reviews left by men for this underwear should tell you you're in good hands. (Seriously- read the reviews and remember to mark them "helpful"!)

One thing I've noticed is that it seems like Kohl's always has a few exclusive colors and patterns for Vanity Fair panties- just a tip for the hardcore collectors out there (they exist!)

Guess who just went panty shopping at Kohl's?

Is it excessive, since I just got a whole bunch of panties in the mail ? Who cares! Let's live a little! Let's take a leisurely stroll through Kohl's women's underwear section. I can happily report that Kohls remains an excellent shopping choice for the panty-wearing male. They carry a range of diverse brands and styles, including some of the most popular in men's wear. The Bali Skimp Skamp, which I recently reviewed , was well-stocked in a variety of colors and sizes, and highly organized. They look so inviting! The Vanity Fair Ravissant brief , maybe the best panty known to man, was also prominently represented, proudly hanging in full splendor right at the front of the women's intimates section.  They also carried a great variety of Vanity Fair's top-selling illuminations briefs. I considered picking up a pair of their full cut briefs, since I don't have any in that cut. In the end, I picked up a three-pack of Jockey's No Panty Line Promise hip br...

The Mega Brief Showdown Part 3: Vanity Fair Perfectly Yours Ravissant Tailored Brief Panty

What lies beneath the surface of this unassuming full-cut panty? As I've been writing these reviews, I've made it my rule to wear the panty as I write the review. It's only fair, I reasoned. But it meant that, in all cases, I had to change out of the Vanity Fair Ravissant panties first to do it. Over the last few days as I go about my business, if I am not wearing the Vanity Fair panties I find myself wishing that I were, instead. There's no denying an instinctual reaction like that: these are the undisputed champion of the three-way panty face-off I've called the Mega Brief Showdown, where I reviewed Bali Skimp Skamp Briefs and then the Olga Secret Hug Nylon Briefs . Formidable classics in their own right, but still not enough to unseat the throne of the best panty of all time. The Vanity Fair Perfectly Yours Ravissant Tailored Brief Panty Don't take my word for it. Not only is the Vanity Fair Ravissant panty specifically recommended to men by Tomima of HerR...

The Mega Brief Showdown: Bali Skimp Skamp

Three classics: (from left) Olga Secret Hug, Bali Skimp Skamp, Vanity Fair Ravissant As announced in  my recent post , I just received my latest order from HerRoom.com. My purpose with this selection of panties was to revisit my top three unquestioned timeless classic briefs. These are the three brief panties I go back to again and again, that I have worn for decades.  To be clear, though, they're not always what I go to for practical, every day wear. They're not your Vanity Fair illumination, Fruit of the Loom Microfiber brief, or even your Shadowline Nylon Hipster. These are the big, silky, luxurious, lacy panties that you wear when you want to be absolutely spoiled rotten. These panties are like cake: delicious, irresistable, detailed with lots of fine frosting, but maybe not something you'd wear every day. But which one is the very best? If I had to choose from these three panties, which would I wear exclusively for the rest of my life? These are tough questions for any...
