Three classics: (from left) Olga Secret Hug, Bali Skimp Skamp, Vanity Fair Ravissant
To be clear, though, they're not always what I go to for practical, every day wear. They're not your Vanity Fair illumination, Fruit of the Loom Microfiber brief, or even your Shadowline Nylon Hipster. These are the big, silky, luxurious, lacy panties that you wear when you want to be absolutely spoiled rotten. These panties are like cake: delicious, irresistable, detailed with lots of fine frosting, but maybe not something you'd wear every day.
But which one is the very best? If I had to choose from these three panties, which would I wear exclusively for the rest of my life? These are tough questions for any pantyhead, it's the kind of thing that keeps us up at night.
The Bali Skimp Skamp Brief
Enter Bali. The skimp skamp is one of those panties that have been around for probably as long as I have. It's a perennial favorite of both men and women, winning the HerRoom undie awards in 2008, 2010, and 2016, as well as being inducted into the 2017 HerRoom panty hall of fame.
This is a panty I tried very early on as I explored the possibilities offered by women's underwear. I remember liking them, and thinking I should revisit the Skimp Skamp brief, but I never got around to ordering it again over the years.
For such a highly acclaimed panty, I will admit, from that prior experience I thought of this one as the underdog as I added it to my cart alongside heavy-hitters from Vanity Fair and Olga.
I do like to root for the underdog. However, I have to report that my initial feelings bore out: it's a fantastic panty by any measure, a really top tier showing from Bali and well deserving of all the praise they've gotten over the years. But it does not outshine the other two briefs in the Mega Brief Showdown: the competition from Vanity Fair and Olga is just that fierce.
The problem, if you'd call it that, comes down to just one thing: the fabric. It is both the blessing and the curse of the Skimp Skamp.
The Good
The coverage of these panties is so extreme that there's simply no possibility of a VPL when you wear them. I wore them to the gym under some light clothing with zero problems, and I would recommend this panty as excellent for that purpose. For a panty of this type, these are highly understated and very stealth.
The gym also showcased the other great aspect of the Skimp Skamp: the stretch of the fabric provides unparalleled support. The support from these panties is better than most men's underwear.
The color, Rustic Berry Red, is excellent and unique. You'll love how you look with these wrapped snugly around your hips and butt. The lace around the leg bands and waistband is nice and unique. The back seam and leg bands cup your butt and give you a nice solid feeling under your clothes.
The Bad
The fabric just doesn't hold a candle to the fine silky nylon of the Vanity Fair Ravissant brief, or even the Olga Secret Hug. It's stretchy, not silky. Matte, not lustrous. The stretch and bounce of the fabric are what make this panty stand out, for better or worse, from the rest.
It's also that stretch and bounce that give the panty it's fine support. You'd swear these are made with men in mind, and given how many rave reviews have been written by men (see https://www.herroom.com/lingerie-for-men.aspx for example), that might not be too far off the mark.
Like I said, an absolutely wonderful panty and a delight to wear, highly practical, and a top-notch beloved classic to many. You can't go wrong with these panties. But in my next posts I will be visiting the panties I admitted like even more: the absolute competition-crushing titans of women's underwear for men: the Vanity Fair Ravissant and the Olga Secret Hug. Stay tuned!
