I've worn many different pairs of panties in my life. Like all right-thinking men, I love the shimmery, silky fabrics, the extravagant lace, the bright colors, the great variety, and all the elegance that comes with the world of women's undergarments. Slipping into the forbidden realm of panties can be sheer intoxication. I should be easy to please then, you would think, but even I must admit that sometimes, a pair of panties just isn't cutting it. That is what I am feeling today as I wear Target's Auden™brand Women's Laser Cut Cheeky.
The Panty

We've started out with a negative tone for this review, but I should make it clear that there is a lot to like about Auden's laser cut series of panties. The laser cut edge makes these panties "seamless" and non-binding, a popular feature for women these days as it reduces visible panty lines.
The fabric is smoother and silkier than anything else you can find at Target. This is some sort of magical microfiber. Jeans slide on over these undies easier than if you were wearing nothing at all. The cut of the rear sits loosely on your butt, rather less binding than traditional elastic.

Target sells this basic style of laser-cut microfiber panty in all of the traditional cuts: thong, bikini, hipster, high cut brief, full brief. Walk into any Target and in the ladies' intimates section you will find all of these panties (and even more wild styles with laces or cheeky cuts), all housed in the chaos that is the target women's underwear drawer:

There is something nicely appealing about rifling through some drawers in search of the perfect pair of panties. |
The main problem with the Auden laser-cut series is precisely their lay-flat, non-binding, no-show laser cut leg holes. Traditionally-tailored panties use elastic seams at the panty's edge to prevent raveling of the raw fabric edges and to neaten the inside of the panty. The "laser cut" on the other hand is finished without requiring further sewing or material.
We all know that women's underwear tends to leave more room in the rear for the proverbial junk in the trunk, which men usually have a hard time filling out. With elastic bands, this isn't a problem: the band will still grip your leg if the panties are anywhere close to your true size. The laser cut edge of these panties, however, tends to sit loosely on my butt, kind of flapping gently, and not gripping anything.
This means that the panty is not gripping me at the leg and waist band, so there is nothing to keep the fit in place in the front. This is a recipe for ride-up. and as the panty rides up and back, the front material, which was never very covering to begin with, is rapidly pulled out of place. You wind up with a frustrating fit that won't sit right.
Don't take my word for it! Practical Panty on youtube agrees with me, in this video about general tips for men who wear panties:
My Particular Pair
The particular pair of Auden's Women's Laser Cut Cheeky that I am wearing today is a green size large. It fits loosely around my waist. They're good to wear for a short time, but on a day with a lot of walking these briefs will bring you nothing but grief.
Favorite part: we cannot deny that the fabric is something special, here.
